Arpine Maghakyan is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Accounting at Aalto University. She holds a doctoral degree (Kauppat. toht., liiketaloustieteet) awarded on 25 October 2021. Her research focuses on auditing practices, career success metrics in auditing professions, gender differences in career trajectories, digitalization impacts on audit processes, and policy uncertainties affecting audit outcomes. She has collaborated internationally and engaged in visiting research activities at institutions like the University of Auckland and the 2016 Stata Winter School.
Her work explores topics such as audit fees determination, bargaining power dynamics between auditors and clients, and the role of auditor expertise in digital environments. Maghakyan’s recent publications analyze gender differences in career success for Big 4 auditors and the effects of digitalization on audit fee structures. She has presented findings in peer-reviewed journals like Contemporary Accounting Research and European Accounting Review.
