معرفی
Aron Stubbins is a Professor at Northeastern University, holding joint appointments in Marine and Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Chemical Biology, and Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on environmental chemistry, biogeochemical cycles, and the impacts of plastics on ecosystems. He leads projects funded by the National Science Foundation, including studies on microplastics and their role in the carbon cycle.
Education: PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry from Newcastle University (2002). Postdoctoral work at Old Dominion University followed by a faculty position at Skidaway Institute (UGA) before joining Northeastern in 2018.
Research interests include the carbon cycle, plastic pollution, and climate change feedbacks. Notable projects investigate microplastic distribution in oceans, the fate of dissolved organic carbon from plastics, and the effects of black carbon in natural systems.
Scientific Awards: Fellow of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography.
Grants and Advising: Principal Investigator on NSF grants totaling over $1.3 million. Mentors students in interdisciplinary projects, including PEAK Experiences award recipients.
Labs: Affiliated with The Plastics Center and collaborates internationally on plastic pollution and carbon cycle research.
