Arnold L. Punaro is a Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), where he contributes to strategic research and policy analysis. A retired Marine Corps Major General, he serves as Chairman of the Secretary of Defense’s Reserve Forces Policy Board and the National Defense Industrial Association, while also holding board roles at the Atlantic Council and Georgia Institute of Technology’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.

Punaro’s expertise spans national security, defense policy, and strategic trade, informed by his extensive career in the military, Senate Armed Services Committee, and leadership positions in defense consulting. He has received prestigious accolades, including the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service and the Reserve Officers Association’s Minuteman of the Year award.
