معرفی
Arnold Bakker is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, directing the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Core. He specializes in cognitive neuroscience, particularly human memory mechanisms in aging and disease. His work integrates neuropsychological assessments and advanced neuroimaging methods like fMRI, DTI, and MRS. He leads the Bakker Memory Laboratory, collaborating across departments and institutions to study Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and neuropsychiatric conditions.
Education:
- Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University, 2011
- M.A., Johns Hopkins University, 2007
- B.A. & M.A., Tilburg University, 2002
Research Interests: Neural mechanisms of memory, hippocampal function, neuroimaging techniques, and clinical trials for MCI/Alzheimer’s. His lab focuses on reducing hippocampal hyperactivity via drugs like levetiracetam and explores white matter pathways in aging.
Lab & Collaborations: Collaborations with departments including Neurology, Psychological and Brain Sciences, and Public Health. Current projects include the HOPE4MCI clinical trial and studies on anxiety in Parkinson’s.
Grants & Media: Featured in Science Daily, Nature World News, and others. His work on levetiracetam’s memory benefits in MCI has gained significant attention. He advises graduate students and mentors postdoctoral fellows.
Labs/Teams: Bakker Memory Laboratory, focusing on translational research to bridge cognitive neuroscience with clinical interventions.
