Arnd Uhle

Prof. Dr. Arnd Uhle is a full professor of Public Law, particularly Constitutional Law, General Political Science, and Constitutional Theory, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Leipzig since 2017. He also serves as a judge of the Saxon Constitutional Court since 2017 and is a board member of the Görres Society for the Advancement of Science. His research focuses on constitutional law, administrative law, and their intersections with European law, church-state relations, and sociocultural foundations of modern constitutionalism.

His research explores fundamental rights protection, state organization law, and the Staatskirchenrecht (state-church law), including constitutional regulations and treaties between state and religious communities. He leads the "Law & Religion" research center and co-edits the "Essen Discussions on State and Church" publication series.

Prof. Uhle's teaching spans all areas of public law, including compulsory courses on Constitutional Law I/II and General Administrative Law. He organizes the "Leipzig Seminars on Constitutional Law" and "Leipzig Lectures" series, integrating theory, practice, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Key grants and affiliations include support from the Hanns Martin Schleyer Foundation and Heinz Nixdorf Foundation for his 2025 anthology "75 Years of the Basic Law". He held leadership roles as Vice Dean and Dean at TU Dresden's Faculty of Law (2009-2017).
