Dr. Armita Adily is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales within the Faculty of Medicine & Health, specifically in the School of Population Health. With a PhD completed in 2009, she has extensive experience in public health and health services research, with a focus on improving services for priority populations. Her collaborative work extends internationally, having partnered with the Canadian Institute of Health Research and the Ottawa Health Research Institute to explore knowledge translation and capacity for evidence-based policy and practice.
Dr. Adily's research primarily centers on forensic mental health, with particular emphasis on the intersection of mental health services and the criminal justice system. Her work explores how mental health treatment affects recidivism among individuals with psychosis, the effectiveness of court diversion programs, and the utilization of mental health services following prison release or hospital discharge. She has pioneered innovative text mining approaches to analyze domestic violence police records, identifying patterns of mental disorders, abuse types, and victim injuries. Her research methodology combines epidemiological analysis with advanced data science techniques to address complex public health challenges.
Through her extensive publication record spanning from 2004 to 2025, Dr. Adily has established herself as a leading researcher in applying data science techniques to public health challenges, particularly in forensic settings.
