Armen Zakarian is a Professor and Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He has held leadership roles including Vice Provost for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies (2021–2025) and Chair of the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department (2009–2023). His research focuses on systems engineering, digital manufacturing, and modular design.

Scientific awards include the 2003 Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Systems Engineering and recognition in the Computerworld Honors Program for his Virtual Learning Tool software.

He led the department through ABET accreditation and introduced new programs in Human-Centered Design and Industrial & Systems Engineering Ph.D. He is a senior member of IISE and member of IEEE and INCOSE.
