Armando Bayolo is a Lecturer in Composition-Theory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (since 2023). He holds an international reputation as a composer blending Latin American rhythmic traditions with postmodern classical techniques. Previously, he founded and directed the Great Noise Ensemble (2005–2021), presenting over 200 premieres and fostering new music initiatives across the U.S. His work emphasizes democratizing classical music through boundary-breaking practices.
