Dr Arlene D'Silva serves as a Lecturer and Lead post-doctoral research fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, within the Faculty of Medicine. Her academic appointment places her at the forefront of pediatric neurological research with a strong emphasis on translational applications.
Dr D'Silva's research program focuses on interrogating biological mechanisms in pediatric neurogenetic diseases through cutting-edge genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic technologies. With over 10 years of experience in molecular biology, she has developed unique expertise in creating multi-omic and bioinformatics pipelines that bridge laboratory findings to clinical applications. Her work specifically targets pediatric neurogenetic disorders, with a strategic vision to foster international collaborations in molecular characterization of neurodegenerative disorders to improve health outcomes for affected children.
Dr D'Silva completed a double Masters degree at the University of Sydney followed by a PhD in 2020 at Western Sydney University focused on reproductive health and human genetics. Her research supervision spans ILP, Honours, Masters, and PhD levels with expertise in neuromuscular diseases, neurosciences, biological markers, proteomics, and molecular biology. She currently supervises PhD students at UNSW while leading her post-doctoral research initiatives.
