Arlen F. Chase is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Houston within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Previously, he held faculty and administrative positions at the University of Central Florida (1984–2016), University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2016–2019), and Pomona College (2019–2023). A leading Maya archaeologist, he has co-directed excavations at Caracol, Belize, since 1985, focusing on urbanism, complexity, and human-nature interactions.
