Dr. Arjuna Dibley is a Research Fellow at Melbourne Law School and Head of the Sustainable Finance Hub at Melbourne Climate Futures. He holds an Honorary Research Associate position at the University of Oxford’s Smith School for Enterprise and Environment. His expertise spans environmental law, climate change economics, sustainable finance, energy policy, and corporate governance. Dibley earned a doctorate in climate change law and economics from Stanford University as a General Sir John Monash Scholar, and undergraduate degrees in law and Asian studies from the Australian National University.
Prior to academia, he worked as a corporate lawyer, strategy adviser, and policy analyst for sustainable finance organizations in Australia, Asia, and the US. He advises governments, financial institutions, and NGOs on climate law and finance. His research has been published in prestigious outlets like Nature and Harvard Environmental Law Review, and he contributed to the UN Environment Programme’s Adaptation Gap Report as a lead author.
Teaching focuses on Climate Change Law through the Melbourne Law Masters program. Research interests emphasize quantitative and qualitative methods to address climate law and policy challenges, with a focus on sustainable finance mechanisms and corporate governance reforms.
His articles highlight themes like climate risk governance, state-owned utility innovation, and the intersection of populism and climate policy. He advocates for integrating legal frameworks with economic strategies to drive decarbonization and enhance climate resilience globally.
