معرفی
Dr. Aristides P. Carrillo-Fernandez serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Purdue University (2023), an M.S. in Telecommunication Systems Engineering from ESIGELEC (Rouen, France, 2009), and a B.S. from EUITT-UPM in Madrid, Spain (2006). Prior to academia, he spent 8 years in industry roles across France, Spain, and West Africa. His research focuses on social interactions in engineering education, particularly empathy's role in team dynamics and learning processes in first-year engineering design teams. He received the 2023 Magoon Award for Graduate Student Teaching Excellence from Purdue's College of Engineering.
His research interests emphasize how empathy influences teamwork effectiveness, civic-mindedness, and collaborative problem-solving in engineering contexts. He explores these themes through studies in hybrid/online learning environments, data analytics integration in early engineering curricula, and interdisciplinary team performance. His work bridges pedagogical innovation with real-world industry experience.
Publications highlight trends in empathy measurement in engineering teams, the impact of data literacy on ideation processes, and links between empathy and civic engagement. His scholarship addresses both foundational engineering education challenges and practical applications of collaborative learning strategies.
