Arif Camoglu is an Assistant Professor of Literature at NYU Shanghai, with a focus on British and Ottoman literatures of the 18th–19th centuries, postcolonial criticism, translation studies, critical theory, and poetry. He earned his PhD in Comparative Literary Studies from Northwestern University and has taught at Northwestern, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Colgate University.

His research explores intersections between Anglo-Ottoman poetics, sovereignty, and postcolonial theory. Current projects include the book Spectral Empire: Anglo-Ottoman Poetics of Sovereignty, which repositions Ottoman Turkish literary sources in global postcolonial scholarship.
Publication Trends: Camoglu’s work examines imperial sovereignty, political mysticism, and inter-imperial literary modernity, with articles in Comparative Literature Studies, European Romantic Review, and Modern Fiction Studies.
