Ariane Hollub Secrest

Dr. Ariane H. Secrest is an Assistant Professor and Founding Director of the Public Health Program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), within the Mayborn College of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Health Behavior from Indiana University (2009), an M.Ed. in Health Education from the University of Texas at Austin (2003), and a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman's University (2001). Her career spans clinical practice as a pediatric occupational therapist, biostatistical research in home health care, and academia. She has taught across institutions including UMHB, Texas A&M University, and Indiana University, focusing on research methods, biostatistics, public health foundations, and pathophysiology.

She prioritizes student success through technology-mediated engagement and rigorous academic standards, advising doctoral and master’s students on thesis and dissertation committees. Her community service includes evaluating healthcare services at the Temple Community Clinic and advocating for integrated medical-public health education through partnerships with Texas Christian University.

Dr. Secrest also engages in community theater through the Temple Founder Lions Follies, showcasing her commitment to balancing professional rigor with creative expression.
