معرفی
Argyris Papantonis is Professor of Translational Epigenetics at the University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany, leading a research group at the Institute of Pathology. His work focuses on understanding how genome architecture in 3D nuclear space regulates gene expression during cellular responses to developmental cues, disease states, and aging processes. The laboratory investigates chromatin folding dynamics using advanced genomic and imaging approaches.
Research interests include epigenetic regulation of gene expression, chromatin topology dynamics during cellular differentiation, nuclear organization principles, and mechanisms of cellular senescence. The group develops methods to study spatial genome organization and its functional consequences.
Recent publications reveal fundamental insights into CTCF/cohesin-mediated chromatin looping, enhancer-mediated gene activation mechanisms, epigenetic drivers of cellular aging, and the role of genome architecture in cancer biology. This work combines computational genomics with experimental approaches to develop predictive models of cellular behavior.
Dr. Papantonis maintains collaborations across computational, molecular, and clinical disciplines and has developed specialized techniques for studying active transcription sites and chromatin interactions in mammalian cells.
