Dr. Argenis Rodas-González is an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. He holds a PhD from Texas Tech University, a Master's from Universidad del Zulia, and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the same institution.
His research program investigates ante- and post-mortem factors affecting meat quality in domesticated species (beef, chicken, pork) and exotic species (water buffalo, bison). Current projects include remote meat inspection technologies and value-added processing of spent hen meat.
Rodas-González has received the 2023 Nutrition or Meat Sciences Award from the Canadian Society of Animal Science and the 2022 Students' Teacher Recognition Award from the University of Manitoba.
