Ard-Pieter de Man is a Full Professor at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and holds a position at the Amsterdam Business Research Institute. He specializes in ecosystems, new organizational forms, alliances, networks, open innovation, and partnerships. He obtained his PhD in 1996 from Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on designing adaptable organizations and managing strategic change in dynamic markets. He leads research projects at VU Amsterdam and serves as a boardroom consultant in strategy, innovation, and organizational development.
Research interests include business models, service innovation, small and medium enterprises, and intellectual property rights. He has published 15 books, over 30 journal articles, and numerous book chapters. Ancillary roles include leadership positions at Braincompass, Organizational Revolution, and Janjorem BV. Notable awards include the Atos Consulting Publication Prize (2009), Best Paper Southern Management Association (2013), and the Decade Award Industry & Innovation (2024).
Advising and grants: Supervised six PhD theses and led the project 'Het einde van strategie?!' (2021-2022). Media engagements include contributions to PLTFRM Ecosystem Talks and expert commentary on digital transformation trends. Active in lecturing and conferences, addressing topics like ecosystem governance and strategic agility.
Labs/teams: Leads research on innovation ecosystems, digital transformation, and sustainable business models through collaborative projects with industry partners.
