Archana Krishnan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY). She holds affiliate faculty status in the Department of Information Science. Her academic career includes roles as Assistant Professor (2015-2021) and Postdoctoral Research Associate at Yale University (2012-2015). She earned her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences from the University of Connecticut (2011) and postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine.
Her research focuses on computer-mediated communication, mHealth, and health disparities, with grants from NIH/NIDA and others. Notable projects include Project SMART (mHealth intervention for HIV medication adherence) and studies on digital health equity. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited works on health communication disparities. Awards include the NIH/NIDA mHealth Research Scholar and Distinguished Reviewer recognition.
Her work bridges technology, health, and behavior, emphasizing underserved populations. Recent studies address HIV treatment adherence, stigma reduction, and pandemic impacts on marginalized communities.
