Dr. Arata Matsuyama is an Assistant Professor and board-certified veterinary medical oncologist in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan's Western College of Veterinary Medicine. He holds a DVM from Hokkaido University (2011) and PhD from the University of Guelph (2021), with dual board certification from ACVIM and AiCVIM in medical oncology.
His research program focuses on:
- Cancer biomarker discovery and imaging
- Mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance
- Clinical trial design
- Translational canine cancer models
Recent publications (2020-2022) investigate prognostic biomarkers in osteosarcoma, immune checkpoint expression, radiation toxicities, and novel therapeutic protocols for hematological malignancies.
