Ara Cho serves as a Researcher in the Meteorology and Air Quality department at Wageningen University & Research, where she actively contributes to atmospheric science research while pursuing her PhD under promotor M. Krol.
Her research expertise spans:
- Biogeochemical cycling of carbonyl sulfide and carbon dioxide
- Plant-atmosphere gas exchange mechanisms
- Isotope discrimination in trace gas uptake
- Development of the Simple Biosphere model (SiB4)
- Global budget modeling of atmospheric trace gases
Cho's publication record reveals a focused trajectory in using carbonyl sulfide as a photosynthetic tracer, with increasing sophistication in modeling approaches across her four publications from 2021-2025. Her work bridges atmospheric chemistry, plant physiology, and biogeochemical modeling to advance understanding of biosphere-atmosphere interactions.
She is currently engaged in the active research project "Inverse modeling of the coupled CoS and Co2 budget" which began October 1, 2019 and continues to the present, demonstrating sustained research activity in this specialized field.
