Aqeel Bhatti is a dedicated professional Tabla player with 25 years of performance experience and 15+ years of teaching expertise. He serves as a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania since 2005 and began teaching a beginning Tabla class at Swarthmore College in spring 2020. His work spans accompanying classical, semiclassical, Kathak dance, Ghazal Geet, Folk, Thumri, Bollywood music, and solo performances.
Research and Teaching Focus:
- Tabla history and playing techniques
- North Indian and Pakistani percussion systems
- Integration of rhythm in dance and music genres
