April Carrillo (they/she) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Dakota. Their work centers on LGBTQ+ experiences within the criminal legal system, with a focus on trans folx. Carrillo combines research, teaching, and activism to address systemic inequities.
