Apolonio Trejo

Apolonio Trejo, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education and Chair of the Education and Counseling Department at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLUSA). His expertise spans bilingual education, dual language programs, ESL, and advocacy for marginalized student populations, particularly Hispanic English learners and gifted/emergent bilingual students.

His research focuses on addressing academic inequities in gifted education for Hispanic students, challenges in serving gifted children of color, and the needs of twice-exceptional and LGBTQ+ gifted students. He holds certifications in Bilingual Generalist, Texas Educator Standards Pedagogy, and Spanish Oral Proficiency.

Outside academia, Trejo enjoys travel (especially to Mexico), fitness, home remodeling, and fashion. He actively contributes to professional organizations like NABE, NAGC, and local bilingual education associations.
