Aoife Heaslip

Aoife Heaslip is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology / Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Connecticut. She holds a BS from University College Dublin, a PhD from the University of Vermont, and completed post-doctoral work at the University of Vermont and Indiana University, Bloomington. Her research focuses on the biology of the human pathogen Toxoplasma gondii, particularly the molecular mechanisms of dense granule transport and secretion using parasite cell biology, live cell imaging, and single molecule biophysics.

Her recent publications highlight studies on parasite motility, protein secretion, and cytoskeletal dynamics in Toxoplasma gondii. Notably, her 2011 work on lysine methyltransferase regulation of parasite motility was recognized as a Faculty of 1000 'Must Read.'
