Anuprita Shukla is a Teaching Fellow in Global Development at the School of Global Development, University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich, UK. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules in development management, geography, and academic skills, and serves as the course director for the BA International Development Management program. She also advises nearly thirty visiting students. Additionally, she holds an external position as Visiting Lecturer at Saarland University since 2022.
Her educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy from Glasgow Caledonian University, with a thesis on monitoring and evaluation in HIV prevention programs in India, and a Master of Public Health from Pune University.
Anuprita’s research focuses on intergenerational knowledge exchange, nutrition literacy, and sustainable food systems for improved health and well-being in India. Her earlier work examined gender dimensions in agriculture and public health policy, particularly around HIV/AIDS. She specializes in qualitative methods and has extensive experience working with marginalized populations including sex workers, rural and indigenous communities, and urban slum dwellers. Her expertise spans monitoring and evaluation, programme management, food security, and intergenerational relations.
Her recent publications reflect a strong trend toward decolonial approaches to literacy and food systems, with a focus on intergenerational learning and vernacular knowledge. These works appear in journals such as Compare, Progress in Development Studies, and Global Public Health, and highlight the socio-cultural dimensions of health and development.
