António Mendonça

António Mendonça is a Full Professor at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG-UL) and holds an Agregação in Economics (1995) and a Ph.D. (1987) from the University of Lisbon. His research focuses on Macroeconomics, International Economics, International Financial Economics, and Transport Economics and Policy. He has served as Dean of ISEG (1999–2002, 2007–2009), Minister of Public Works (2009–2011), and currently chairs the Portuguese Economists Order (2022–2026) and the National Council of Portuguese Professional Orders (CNOP).

Education: Ph.D. in Economics (1987), Agregação in Economics (1995), both from the University of Lisbon.

Research interests include Eurozone crisis dynamics, monetary policy, globalization, and sustainable economic development. His recent work addresses post-pandemic recovery, energy security, and EU economic policy coordination. He has authored/co-authored books such as *Lições de macroeconomia* and contributed to journals like *Lusíada. Economia & Empresa*.

Leadership roles include directing the Master’s in International Economics (2018–present), chairs of research centers CESA and CEDIN, and international advisory roles with UNCTAD and the World Bank. He is also an invited professor at universities in France, Brazil, and Angola.

Advising has spanned topics like EU energy security, China-Europe trade, and Brexit impacts, with over 30 student supervisees since 2013. Key institutional affiliations include the European Economic and Social Council (EESC) and the Portuguese Economic and Social Council (CES).

Labs/Teams: Director of CESA (Center for African Studies and Development) and CEDIN (Center for European Studies and International Economics), fostering collaboration in development economics and EU studies.
