Dr Antonio Del Rio Chanona is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, part of the Faculty of Engineering. He leads the Optimisation and Machine Learning for Process Systems Engineering (OptimLPSE) group and is Co-Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Next Generation Synthesis & Reaction Technology (rEaCt). His research focuses on applying optimization, machine learning, large language models, and reinforcement learning to chemical engineering systems, with a focus on bioprocess control and scale-up.
Education:
- BSc (Distinction) in Chemical Engineering, National Autonomous University of Mexico (2008–2013)
- PhD (Danckwerts-Pergamon award recipient) in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Cambridge (2013–2017)
