Antonio Acín

Prof. Antonio Acín is a leading quantum physicist at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in the Department of Quantum Information. His research focuses on quantum foundations, cryptography, and certification of quantum technologies, bridging theoretical insights with experimental collaborations. He actively collaborates with global institutions, including the Max-Planck-Institut and the University of Geneva.

His work emphasizes device-independent quantum protocols, quantum thermodynamics, and many-body physics. Key achievements include proposing experimental falsification of real-number quantum theories and applying machine learning to quantum phase discovery. Acín leads projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC), EU initiatives CiviQ and QRANGE, and Spanish government grants (FIS2020-TRANQI, Severo Ochoa).
