معرفی
Dr. Antje Wegwerth is a Researcher at the Leibniz-Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW) in Rostock, Germany. She specializes in paleoceanography, marine geochemistry, and climate dynamics, with a focus on reconstructing past environmental changes in the Black Sea, Baltic Sea, and other marine systems. Her work integrates sedimentological, geochemical, and isotopic analyses to explore redox dynamics, trace metal cycling, and glacial-interglacial climate interactions.
Education: She holds a PhD in Geology-Paleontology from Freie Universität Berlin (2015) and a diploma in Geology-Paleontology from the same institution (2011). Her research has involved collaborative projects such as SESPOD (Subantarctic Eastern South Pacific Ocean Dynamics) and BlackPearl (Black Sea Palaeoclimate Studies).
- Research Cruises: Includes expeditions on RV Sonne (e.g., MAPUCHE in Chile, SO290 in the Tasman Sea) and RV Meteor in the Black Sea.
- Key Projects: DFG-funded SESPOD (since 2022) and BlackPearl (since 2016), focusing on sediment records and climate reconstructions.
- Field Studies: Collaborative work at CEREGE (France) and involvement in sediment coring expeditions.
Her research emphasizes interhemispheric climate linkages, redox-proxy applications, and the impact of ice sheets on marine systems. Recent studies highlight millennial-scale variability in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea inflow dynamics.
