Antje Postema

Antje Postema is a Continuing Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in Slavic Languages & Literatures. She teaches courses in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS) language and Reading and Composition.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Slavic Languages & Literatures from the University of Chicago
• B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities from the University of Chicago

Her research focuses on post-Yugoslav literatures and cultures, trauma representation, cultural memory, Balkan film, and the interplay of Ottoman and Habsburg legacies in contemporary works. She explores spatial identities, migration narratives, and translation practices.

Her recent publications and projects highlight themes of memory in post-war contexts, photographic witness during Yugoslav conflicts, and transnational literary influences. She is also developing a language textbook leveraging rock music for BCS fluency.
