Anthony Speca

Anthony Speca is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of East Anglia (UEA)'s School of Environmental Sciences and an Adjunct Professor at Trent University, Canada. He specializes in Arctic governance, experiential education through Model Arctic Council (MAC) simulations, and the intersection of geography and philosophy. His work bridges academia, policy, and education, with a focus on Northern Canada and international circumpolar issues.

He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Toronto (1999) and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Society of Arts. His educational consultancy, Polar Aspect, designs MAC programs for universities and secondary schools globally. He co-founded the Læra Institute for Circumpolar Education within the University of the Arctic, and advises the Government of Nunavut on fiscal and economic policy.

Research interests include Arctic political economy, educational diplomacy simulations, and the philosophical dimensions of geography. His MAC initiatives have engaged hundreds of students worldwide since 2016, emphasizing sustainable development and geopolitical literacy. He has authored over 20 articles on Arctic policy, environmental governance, and pedagogical innovation, with recent focus on sustainable development frameworks and youth engagement in Arctic diplomacy.
