Dr. Anthony Muchai Manyara is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow's School of Health & Wellbeing. His roles include coordinating the SPIRIT|CONSORT-SURROGATE project, focused on improving reporting standards for surrogate endpoints in clinical trials. He holds a BSc (First Class) in Environmental Health from Moi University, an MSc (Distinction) in Public Health from UWE Bristol, and a PhD in Social/Public Health Science from the University of Glasgow. Previously, he worked at APHRC, KEMRI Wellcome Trust, and the Aquaya Institute.

His work emphasizes transparency in surrogate endpoint use, particularly in cardiology and global health contexts. He has collaborated on studies analyzing diabetes risk perceptions in sub-Saharan Africa and methodological critiques of surrogate endpoints in cardiovascular research.
His recent articles advocate for standardized reporting frameworks, address limitations in surrogate endpoint validation, and explore diabetes prevention strategies in low-resource settings. Manyara’s efforts bridge methodological rigor with practical health system improvements, focusing on low- and middle-income countries.
