Anthony Joseph Yezzi is a Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (College of Engineering), holding the Julian Hightower Endowed Chair. His research spans image processing, computer vision, and applied differential geometry, with a focus on medical imaging applications (cardiac ultrasound, MRI, CT) and computational algorithms.
- Born in Gainesville, FL; raised in Minneapolis, MN
- Bachelor's and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (University of Minnesota), minors in mathematics and music
- Postdoctoral research at MIT's Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems
His work integrates partial differential equations and curve/surface evolution theory for tasks like segmentation, optical flow, and visual tracking. He has developed advanced courses in computer vision and medical image processing since joining Georgia Tech in 1999.
- NSF CAREER Award (2002)
- Fulbright Award (2016)
- Multiple international visiting professorships (University of Dauphine, University of Bologna)
Professor Yezzi consults in medical imaging and visual inspection industries. He is a board member for the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome's Ph.D. program and maintains hobbies in classical guitar, opera, and martial arts.
