Anthony Haynes

Dr. Anthony Haynes is a Reader in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Sheffield's School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. He holds a BSc from the University of Exeter (1986) and a PhD from the University of Nottingham (1989). His career includes roles as BP Chemicals Research Fellow (Sheffield, 1993), BP Chemicals Lecturer in Homogeneous Catalysis (1993), and promotions to Senior Lecturer (2002) and Reader (2009).

His research focuses on homogeneous transition metal catalysis, particularly methanol carbonylation processes. Collaborations with BP Chemicals explore industrial applications like the Cativa process. Key areas include rhodium/iridium catalysis mechanisms, ligand effects on reactivity, and computational modeling of organometallic systems. His lab utilizes advanced spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, NMR, X-ray crystallography) and materials characterization.
