Anthony Goodier

Anthony Goodier is a Principal Lecturer and Head of the Built Environment at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds qualifications including BEng (Hons), MSc in Information Technology Systems, PGCE, and is a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His career spans industry, research, and academia, with early roles at Mott MacDonald and the Building Research Establishment (BRE). He led projects in IT systems for construction practices, non-destructive testing, and structural monitoring. Since 2007, he has contributed to academic roles, including course leadership for Building Surveying undergraduate programs and leadership in Real Estate and Building Surveying staff groups.

He also explores IT applications in construction education and automated assessment moderation.

Consultancy and Roles: Engages in independent construction consultancy and serves on academic committees including the Future Learning Spaces Group and DS IT liaison committee. He is a faculty complaints investigator and advocates for modern learning space design.

Labs/Teams: Leads teams within the Built Environment department, particularly in Real Estate and Building Surveying, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration in construction technology and sustainability.
