Anta Kursiša

Anta Kursiša is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Slavic and Baltic Languages, Finnish, Dutch and German at Stockholm University. She specializes in German as a foreign language and multilingualism, with extensive experience in language education and research.

Dr. Kursiša received her PhD from the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany in 2011, with a dissertation on reading comprehension in tertiary language teaching and learning. Her educational background includes German studies at the University of Latvia and German as a Foreign Language at the University of Kassel in Germany.

Her research focuses on teaching and learning of foreign languages, particularly German as a foreign language, multilingualism, language learning motivation, and the study motivation of LOTE (languages other than English) in bachelor's and master's programs. She has been actively involved in developing teaching materials and educational projects, including collaborations with the Goethe-Institut.

Dr. Kursiša's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on multilingual approaches to language education, blended learning methodologies, and the integration of language awareness in German teaching. Her work spans theoretical research and practical applications in classroom settings.

Among her notable projects are "PluriDeutsch - Plurilingual courses with German" and "Language Expedition around the Baltic Sea," both contributing significantly to the field of multilingual language education. She is also exploring the application of AI tools in foreign language writing instruction.

Dr. Kursiša teaches linguistics and foreign language didactics at all levels from beginner classes to master's level, including courses in German linguistics, thesis seminars, written language skills, multilingualism, and teaching German as a foreign language. She supervises theses in the field of foreign language research and didactics.
