Ansgar Walther is an Associate Professor of Finance at Imperial College London and a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). He is also a member of the Finance Theory Group. His research focuses on Financial Economics, Macroeconomics, Digitization, and Machine Learning in Finance, with a particular emphasis on Financial Inclusion, Fairness, and Stability in the AI era. He currently holds an ERC Consolidator grant for his work in these areas, supported by the UKRI Horizon Europe guarantee.
Walther's research has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Finance, American Economic Review, and Review of Financial Studies. His work explores topics including regulatory policy design, algorithmic bias in credit markets, banking resolution frameworks, and the impact of social media on financial markets. His accolades include the Econometric Society Prize (2024) and the Brattle Prize (2022).
