Anri Yasuda is an Assistant Professor of Japanese Literature at the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on modern Japanese literature (Meiji-Taishō eras) through the lenses of aesthetics, transnational identities, gender, and affect theory. She actively connects artistic mediums and explores cultural/linguistic boundaries in beauty concepts.
Education:
- BA, MA, PhD in Japanese Literature from Columbia University
- MA in Japanese Literature from Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan)
Her work spans interdisciplinary aesthetics, modernist Japanese fiction, and trauma studies in both historical and contemporary contexts. Recent publications analyze Akutagawa Ryūnosuke's artistic connections, Mori Ogai's muse dynamics, and post-disaster narratives in Kanehara Hitomi's work.
Her academic output demonstrates engagement with:
