Anoma Kumarasuriyar

Dr. Anoma Kumarasuriyar is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at the School of Architecture & Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering, Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She holds a PhD in Architecture from QUT (1996), focusing on timber houses in Japan and Queensland. Her research spans studio-based pedagogies, cross-cultural architectural education, Asian architecture, heritage conservation, and cultural sustainability. She has authored/co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications since 2003, including studies on Bruno Taut’s Glashaus, Queensland heritage sites like Newstead House, and refugee architecture in Jordan. Her work bridges cultural history with contemporary design challenges, emphasizing sustainable practices and adaptive reuse. Collaborations include projects on VR digitization of endangered heritage sites and socio-cultural dimensions of sustainability.
