Annina Neumann

Annina Neumann serves as Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering at the Department of Information and Communication, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. Elected Senate Chair in September 2025, she concurrently directs the AI Application Center (KIAZ) and leads the AI Living Lab, driving practical implementations of artificial intelligence across academic and enterprise contexts.

Her research prioritizes ethical AI integration with human-centered systems:

• Trustworthy AI frameworks and enterprise AI management
• Human-Computer Interaction for adaptive AI technologies
• Data Science methodologies for business informatics
• Software Engineering practices specific to AI development

Recognized with the 2024 Future Prize for Artificial Intelligence, her work emphasizes maintaining human agency in automated systems as highlighted in her public statement: 'Artificial intelligence should not simply replace humans'.

Through the Center for Interaction, Visualization and Usability (CIVU), she fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration between computer science, design, and business disciplines to develop usable AI solutions that address real-world challenges in media informatics and enterprise environments.
