Annika Elwert is an Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Department of Sociology and affiliated with the Centre for Economic Demography. She holds a PhD in Economic History from Lund University (2018) and has extensive experience in sociology and demography research and teaching. Her work focuses on migration, family demography, educational interventions, and social stratification using quantitative historical and contemporary register data.
Key research themes include international migration integration, union formation patterns, and the impact of educational programs. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education quality and reduced inequalities. Elwert has led and collaborated on projects funded by the Swedish Research Council and Forte, exploring topics like needs-based school funding and palliative care equity.
Her teaching spans sociological theory and quantitative methods at all academic levels. She supervises doctoral research in intermarriage patterns and has organized academic conferences.
