Annika Agger is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University, Denmark. She has a Master’s in Technological and Socio-economic Planning and a PhD in citizen participation in urban planning.
Her work explores how local governments can foster inclusive decision-making, particularly in climate governance and urban regeneration. She leads projects like 'Fra Borgerhøringer til Borgerting' and 'Stedsans – samskabelse gennem omverdensinddragelse,' emphasizing participatory approaches to sustainability and social innovation.
Agger’s recent research highlights transformative practices in urban areas, including boundary spanning by local change agents and the role of municipalities in catalyzing green transitions. She has published widely in journals like International Journal of Urban and Regional Research and Planning Theory, with a focus on polycentric governance models and public engagement strategies.
