معرفی
Dr Annie Lau is a Senior Lecturer at the School of the Environment, University of Queensland. Her research focuses on coastal geomorphology and natural hazards, particularly extreme wave events caused by storms and tsunamis. She holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore and has expertise in reconstructing coastal hazards through sedimentary and historical records. Dr Lau leads the ISROC and IGCP 725 research networks, advancing coastal hazard assessment and numerical modeling. She teaches Geography, Marine Science, and Geoscience courses, emphasizing disaster management education. Her work bridges geological records with modern predictive tools to enhance coastal resilience in regions like Queensland, Asia-Pacific, and Chile.
- Education:
- BSc.Hons. in Geography (HKU)
- MPhil. in Geography (HKU)
- PhD in Earth Sciences (NUS)
Research interests include coastal boulder deposits, Quaternary environmental changes, and tsunami/palaeotsunami analysis. She collaborates internationally, publishing on topics such as Tongatapu’s giant boulders and Chilean tsunami history. Her recent projects integrate field data with numerical simulations to improve coastal change forecasts.
Dr Lau is available for media commentary on natural hazards and supervises students exploring coastal hazard topics. She also contributed to community projects like the Binna Burra trails mapping initiative, emphasizing applied geoscience in environmental management.
