Annie Janvier

Annie Janvier is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Université de Montréal, affiliated with the CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital. She holds roles as a neonatologist, clinical ethicist, and co-director of the Clinical Ethics Unit. Her expertise spans neonatal care, clinical ethics, palliative care, and family-partnered healthcare.

Education: BSc in Biology (McGill University, 1993), MD (Université de Montréal, 1997), Neonatology Fellowship (McGill University, 2000–2003), and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Université de Montréal, 2008).

Research Interests: Prematurity, neonatal ethics, moral distress in healthcare, parent-clinician communication, and family-centered care. Over 280 publications, including books and peer-reviewed articles.

Awards: Multiple accolades for research and clinical excellence, including the 2017 Prix d’excellence for humanization of care and 2018 Engagement Social et Humanitaire award.

Administrative Roles: Medical manager of breastfeeding/nutrition teams, co-director of the Clinical Ethics and Family Partnership research unit, and member of the Palliative Care Unit.
