Dr. Annie Hongping Nie is a Teaching Associate at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies and a Research Associate at the University of Oxford China Centre. She is also an Associate Faculty Member at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.
Her research explores intersections of Political Science, History, and Nationalism, focusing on war-themed online gaming, history textbooks, and national memory in contemporary China. She previously contributed to the Leverhulme China’s War with Japan Programme and served as Faculty Tutor for Contemporary Chinese Politics and Society.
Recent publications center on war studies, historical documentation, and digital humanities, analyzing topics like ideological work in gaming and colonial archives. Her affiliations reflect interdisciplinary engagement with China’s historical and educational narratives.
