Annick RIVENS is a Professor at the University of Lille, affiliated with the Faculty of Languages, Culture and Societies, Department of English Studies - ANGELLIER. She is a member of the UMR 8163 - LABORATORY, KNOWLEDGE, LANGUAGE TEXTS.
Her research focuses on:
- Language Teaching
- Technology-Mediated Communication
- Autonomy in language learning
- Device and complexity in language learning systems
- Formal and informal language learning
Professor RIVENS' work centers on innovation and changes brought about by ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in language teaching and learning. Her approach is multidisciplinary and addresses language production of learners, learning methods, and institutional contexts through complexity theory. She examines issues affecting multiple levels of training (macro, meso, micro) with interdisciplinary crossovers.
Her research is organized around four main themes:
- Computer-Mediated Communication and Language Learning
- Independent language learning
- Systemic approach to the learning system
- Formal and informal language learning
She emphasizes training engineering approaches focusing on the role of actors in educational processes including teacher training, learner roles, and institutional recognition of innovative language teaching practices.
