Annice Coughlan

Annice Coughlan serves as Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Elmhurst University, transitioning from adjunct clinical faculty (2018) to full-time faculty status in Fall 2024.

Dr. Coughlan specializes in bilingual (Spanish-English) interventions for preschool-aged children with complex communication needs, focusing on AAC system implementation for culturally diverse populations. Her clinical expertise spans early intervention evaluations, school-based services from preschool through elementary levels, and speech sound disorders management.

At Elmhurst, she teaches undergraduate/graduate courses including Professional Writing in Speech-Language Pathology, Speech Sound Disorders, and Research Methods while supervising graduate students in the on-campus clinic. Her prior clinical work involved conducting bilingual assessments for children transitioning from early intervention to school settings and securing specialized AAC resources for students with significant communication challenges.
