Annette Pierdziwol

Dr Annette Pierdziwol is the Head of Research Development & Innovation under the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research at The University of Notre Dame Australia. Previously, she served as Associate Dean Research in the Faculty of Education, Philosophy & Theology and Assistant Director of the Institute for Ethics & Society. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sydney, alongside a BA Hons and GradCert in Higher Education from the same institution. Her research focuses on moral philosophy, moral psychology, and early modern philosophy, with a particular emphasis on compassion cultivation, empathic concern, and altruistic motivation. Current projects include a schools-University collaboration: 'Formed for flourishing: Towards a new measure of school success'.

Dr Pierdziwol has held visiting positions at the University of Chicago and the University of Edinburgh as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. She specializes in motive-based ethical frameworks and the intersection of compassion with educational outcomes. Her work bridges philosophical inquiry with applied research in education and institutional ethics.

Advising and grants: Dr Pierdziwol has secured research grants supporting interdisciplinary projects in ethics and education. Her contributions include collaborative efforts between schools and universities to redefine success metrics in educational environments.

Labs/Teams: Active within the Institute for Ethics & Society and the Faculty of Education, Philosophy & Theology, she leads cross-disciplinary teams addressing ethical dilemmas in modern education and research policy.
