Dr Annette Green is a Researcher in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge, working with Prof Chris Sandbrook. Her research focuses on political ecology, conservation strategies, and stakeholder perspectives in landscape restoration projects. She is currently part of the £10M NERC-funded Centre for Landscape Regeneration, investigating diverse stakeholder views in UK landscapes like the Lake District and Cairngorms.
Her academic background includes a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2021), an MA in Tourism, Environment, and Development from King’s College London (2015), and a BA in German and Italian from UCL (2008). Awards include the ESRC Doctoral Studentship and a 2015 Best Thesis Award for her work on Tanzania’s 'Serengeti Highway' debates.
Her research explores how societal and ecological beliefs shape conservation policies, with recent projects including stakeholder mapping tools for restoration projects in Cumbria and analyses of gender dimensions in biodiversity loss. She advocates for equitable and just conservation practices through collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches.
