Annemarie van der Wal is a Lecturer at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (Orofacial Pain and Dysfunction department). She actively contributes to courses on temporomandibular disorders and professional development. Her research focuses on tinnitus mechanisms, hyperacusis, and counseling strategies for craniofacial pain conditions. She has published on telehealth interventions for tinnitus, meta-analyses of auditory pathways, and genetic studies in cardiovascular disorders. Ancillary activities include private practice in Eck en Wiel since 2021.
Research interests include neurophysiological aspects of auditory dysfunction, evidence-based counseling for TMJ disorders, and interdisciplinary approaches to orofacial pain management. Recent work explores self-paced online tinnitus courses and genetic factors in congenital heart defects. Collaborations span audiology, neurology, and cardiovascular research.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on TMJ disorders and salivary glands (co-taught with Prof. Lobbezoo) and professional development modules for healthcare practitioners. Current courses run from September 2024 to August 2025.
